Apollo Sunshine, not in your top 10, never heard of them, skeptical of listening to new music? Well check them out. They played AfterHours, A Club at Northeastern University’s Student Center tonight and rocked the pants of the any and everyone that attended this underpublicized rare gem of a show. They played with three other local acts starting with The Demons of Stupidity followed by Todd Thisbaud and lastly The Shoebox Bankers. The Night stated off quite slow not opening the doors until close to 9:30 but when all is said and done was of course worth the wait.
Once the first band started I hand a chance to talk with Jesse Gallagher who let me know of the bands plans to move out to Texas for the next couple of months. The band is comming off a slew of recent local shows from opening for the Wu-Tang Clan to a headling gig at The Paradise on Comm Ave. Jesse also leaked that he was planning on working on his next project, a vinyl only beats mix with the Boston DJ/MC/producer Edan.
Once back at the show, Apollo lit up the stage starting the set with some classics including usually unheard “Hot Air Ballon” off their first allbum Katonah. The band continued to play some of their new songs with the usual high level of enthusiasm an Apollo Sunshine fan would come to expect. As for being the last show in the Boston area for a while, we’ll miss you guys!
